LHT's Jigsaw Brings Christmas Spirit to Anfield

Liverpool Housing Trust (LHT's) Jigsaw Neighbourhood Services (Jigsaw) have been illuminating the Anfield/Breckfield area of Liverpool and creating a festive glow for the whole community to enjoy.

Last year's solar powered Christmas trees which were erected in the Skerries Road area of North Liverpool were so well received by the local community, that Jigsaw teamed up with Liverpool City Council this year, to fund more trees along the full stretch of Walton Breck Road and Oakfield Road.

Not content with illuminating this area, Jigsaw have also worked with Liverpool Football Club (LFC) and have a 20 foot Christmas tree lit with an array of colourful, low voltage fairy lights in the outer LFC grounds. LFC are providing the electrical supply for the lights and the tree is a beacon of festive cheer in the area.

Jigsaw's final contribution to Christmas goodwill has been to part fund Anfield Breckside Community Council (ABCC) who created a Father Christmas Grotto, providing more than 500 gifts for local children.

Courtney Foat, who had been to see Father Christmas said: "Christmas doesn't usually come to our streets like this - it's great."

Ruth Little from ABCC added: "The results of Jigsaw's work in this area speak for themselves. They've come up with some great ideas and more importantly, got people to work alongside them to make them a reality."

The whole enterprise has been a great success bringing together partners: New Heartlands (funding Jigsaw's work in this area), Liverpool City Council (East Neighborhood and City Centre North Teams (funded solar Christmas trees), LFC and, at the heart of their communities, Anfield Breckside Community Council and Breckfield & North Everton Neighbourhood Council.
